I Am Oak brengt zelf getekende videoclip uit voor nieuwe single ‘Will I Wake’
Unieke video gaat samen met eerste single release van 2018, met meer in het verschiet
Na de release van de live EP 'Pictures of the Floating World' afgelopen jaar, is het in 2018 eindelijk tijd voor nieuwe muziek van I Am Oak.
'Will I Wake' is de eerste single waarbij de Utrechtse band rondom Thijs Kuijken afwijkt van zijn herkenbare geluid met gitaar in de kern. Alle vorige muziek werd geschreven met gitaar als middelpunt, maar recent is I Am Oak voor het eerst gaan experimenteren met de toevoeging van piano voor hun komende releases. Dit heeft ervoor gezorgd dat het geluid van de band aanzienlijk veranderd is, zonder echter het bekende I Am Oak geluid en gevoel te verliezen. Dit maakt 'Will I Wake' het perfecte voorbeeld van de vernieuwingsdrang die I Am Oak altijd heeft wanneer er nieuwe muziek wordt geschreven.

Thijs Kuijken maakte de videoclip, die minstens even bijzonder is als de single, helemaal zelf. Zo tekende hij in meer dan 80 uur zo'n 2000 tekeningen, om deze vervolgens allemaal achter elkaar te zetten. Het resultaat is een prachtige video, die in premiere ging via Engels blog The Skinny.
Vanaf 23 februari wordt de single uitgebracht op Spotify, Bandcamp en iTunes.
Eind deze maand tourt I Am Oak door Duitsland.

I Am Oak releases self-drawn video for new single ‘Will I Wake’
Unique video accompanies first single release of 2018, with more to come
After releasing the Live EP ‘Pictures of the Floating World’ last year, its finally time for some new music by I Am Oak in 2018.
'Will I Wake' is the first new single by the Dutch band based around singer/songwriter Thijs Kuijken. The song diverts from their recognizable guitar sound. All previous material was written with guitar at its core, but lately I Am Oak have been experimenting with the addition of piano for their upcoming releases. With this the band's sound has changed significantly, but without losing the typical I Am Oak feel. This makes 'Will I Wake' the perfect example of how I Am Oak is continuously looking for ways to renew their music.

Thijs Kuijken made the video himself and it’s just as special as the song. It took him over 80 hours to make over 2000 drawings, eventually combining them all. The result is a beautiful video, which was premiered by UK blog The Skinny earlier today. Watch the video right here.
The single itself will be released on Spotify, Bandcamp and iTunes coming Friday the 23rd of February.
At the end of this month I Am Oak will start touring through Germany.
