Cliff Richard zit 50 jaar in het vak als zanger. Zijn carriere start in 1958. Zijn eerste single "Move It" komt op de 2e plaats terecht in de Engelse hitparade. In 1999 scoorde hij zijn laatste #1-hit in Engeland met The Millennium Prayer. Hij is de enige artiest die zowel in de jaren '50, '60, '70, '80, '90 en '00 in de Engeland een #1 hit scoorde. Deze week komt zijn allernieuwste single binnen op #3 in de Engelse hitparade: "Thank you for a lifetime". In oktober wordt hij 68 jaar. In juli 1959 had hij in Engeland zijn 1e #1 hit met "Living Doll", wat in 1986 opnieuw een #1 hit werd in Engeland.
Reden voor Emi Music om een box uit te brengen inclusief zijn allereerste single. Op "And They Said It Wouldn’t Last (My 50 Years In Music)" wordt het jubileum van Cliff Richard optimaal gevierd. Een 12 bij 12 inch metende box met daarin 8 CD’s, Cliff’s eerste 10” vinyl single, een 72-pagina boek en een vergulde herdenkingsmunt. Ja, en dat ene obscure Nederlandse B-kantje staat er ook op!
