Op 7 juli van dit jaar werd een serie wereldwijde concerten georganiseerd onder de naam Live Earth om aandacht voor de klimaatcrisis te vragen. Het evenement vond plaats op zeven continenten gedurende 24 uur en meer dan 150 acts deden hieraan mee. Het aantal mensen dat via 500 mediapartners bereikt werd wordt geschat op twee miljard.
Vanaf 23 november ligt de 2DVD + CD set in de winkels. Op LIVE EARTH – THE CONCERTS FOR A CLIMATE IN CRISIS staan de meest populaire artiesten en beste optredens verzameld waaronder Madonna, Linkin Park, The Police, James Blunt, Genesis, Metallica, Foo Fighters, Black Eyed Peas, Bon Jovi, John Mayer en Rihanna. De opbrengsten van de verkoop van dit album gaan naar The Alliance for Climate Protection.
