Primeur via ADELE.TV op 5 oktober. De release van “SKYFALL” valt samen met het 50-jarig jubileum van James Bond 007
Na het lezen van het script voor de film, vroeg Adele, Paul Epworth om samen de theme song te schrijven en de productie op zich te nemen voor het thema nummer "Skyfall". Adele zegt hier het volgende over: “I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for Skyfall. There's a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song. But I fell in love with the script and Paul had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no brainer to do it in the end. It was also a lot of fun writing to a brief, something I've never done which made it exciting. When we recorded the strings, it was one of the proudest moments of my life. I’ll be back combing my hair when I'm 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day I'm sure!”. Het nummer is opgenomen in Abbey Road Studios te Londen. Voor "Skyfall" werkte Adele samen met een orkest bestaande uit 77 leden.
“Skyfall” is de eerste opname van Adele sinds het uitbrengen van haar grootse succesalbum 21, begin 2011. Tot op de dag van vandaag heeft 21 meer dan 24 miljoen albums wereldwijd verkocht en werd met 6 Grammy Awards, 2 Brit Awards en 2 Ivor Novello Awards bekroond. 21 is het meest verkopende album van zowel 2011 als 2012. De film “Skyfall”, gaat vanaf 26 oktober in de bioscopen draaien.
